Sahara Energy extends well test, to strike first oil in 2015

Posted on : Friday, 12th December 2014

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of  Sahara  Energy Upstream Group,  Mr. Curtis  Cohen has said the firm  is carrying out an extended production test on the Oki field located  in Oil Prospecting Lease (OPL) 274 in North Western Niger Delta, Daily Independent reports. The activity is in readiness to strike  first oil from the field  before the end of the first half 2015.

According to Cohen, the work  programme  will  double output  to  8,000 barrels of oil daily  in 2015, once Oki-Oziengbe South-5 is completed  and streamed up. The Oki field straddles the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company ( NPDC)  operated Oziengbe South Field in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 111.

As such, there  is a unitization agreement between the two companies. Under the terms of unitization programme , Sahara Energy  will produce into the NPDC operated flow station on the Oziengbe South Field. The unitized field,  Oki-Oziengbe South will be harnessed for the benefit of the stakeholders. Sahara will  install  four flow lines to the flow station. The company predicts  initial production of 4,000 barrels of  oil daily  from Oki-Oziengbe South-4, which is the first of the two appraisal/development wells.

The company has successfully drilled two appraisal/development wells and an exploration well between September 2013 and August 2014.
